Luxury vinyl – the flooring trend of the year?
January. The beginning of a new year. The perfect time to press reset and freshen up your home – starting with the flooring.
But what’s actually in style right now?
Flooring trends come and go all the time. So to ensure your room looks on point – and avoid any regrets – it’s important to do a little research into what’s currently hot underfoot. And to set you on the right track, here we’ve rounded up our predictions for the year ahead.
Spoiler alert – luxury vinyl is having a bit of a moment.
Our floor trend forecast for 2023
Swot up and start shopping.
It’s vinyl’s time to shine
This year, there will be a definite move towards durable flooring materials.
Perhaps because we want to be more sustainable? Perhaps to save money on repairs and replacements? Whatever the reason, the no.1 flooring trend will be styles that stand the test of time. And luxury vinyl couldn’t be a more perfect candidate.
In 2022, people began to let go of their (negative) preconceptions about vinyl – realising the many benefits it has to offer. And as a result, it’s predicted to be a big hit in 2023.
These days, there’s so much choice available.
In fact, here at Carpet Underlay Shop, we’ve recently extended our collection of vinyl flooring – introducing a new range of textures, patterns and colours. All of which offer an excellent level of durability, with a style and design to suit every décor.
Patterns are on point
For 2023, patterns are also making a resurgence – particularly patterned vinyl.
Herringbone boomed in popularity last year, and it’s a flooring trend that’s predicted to stick around for a while. Designed to resemble traditional parquet flooring, it’s a timeless style – that creates a natural yet visually interesting look. Especially in warm, wooden tones.
Take a look at this beautiful Sunbeam Herringbone Vinyl available in our store. Perfect for creating a cosy yet contemporary space.
We also stock herringbone and ‘parquet style’ patterns in a range of other shades, including classic oak, banyan tile, and caprio. So there’s bound to be a shade that suits your theme.
Heritage patterns are also set to be revived in 2023.
As maximalist interiors have become more and more popular in recent years, so too has the use of nostalgic designs and brighter, bolder colours in flooring. Think unique farmhouse prints in cream and blue, repeated geometric shapes with rose gold detailing and stone-look tiles in alternating colours.
Again, as we step into the new year, we’ve added a few of these patterns to our vinyl flooring collection. All of which are easy ways to nail the trend, without compromising on durability.
Soft, warm colours
One of the over-arching interior design trends for January 2023 is a ‘sense of warmth’.
Maybe it’s because of the cold weather at this time of year? Maybe it’s just a reaction to the fact that – post-pandemic, amidst the cost of living crisis – many of us seem to be spending more time at home? Either way, it seems we’re all keen to create a cosier, more welcoming feel. And this extends to the flooring.
Classic, golden tones are officially the way forward, with original wood shades – such as oak and chestnut – predicted to be this year’s ‘it’ colours, particularly in combination with an authentic, matte texture.
Our LVT Click Plank Flooring in Fawn Fox is the perfect example. Thanks to its golden hue, it creates a warm and homey feel. And it works especially well with Scandi-style minimalist décor, with neutral walls, pared-back furniture and textured accessories.
